Tzadekah in Hebrew means righteousness. By the 1st century the term took on a second meaning, “acts of charity”. However, Tzadekah means more than just charity, but justice and fairness. Sha’arey Tzion is committed to giving assistance and help to the poor and needy or other worthwhile causes. Sha’arey Tzion gives a minimum of 10% of its income to tzadekah, but regularly far exceeds that amount. Sha’arey Tzion also gives through supporting various clothing, books, special need items, and food drives. Matthew 25:40 “‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”
